Sunday in Budapest
We spent 1½ day in Budapest and saw some of the great places of this exiting city.

The Hungarian language must be studied before a tour to the town.

Drinks are easier to study.

The hotel in Budapest where we stayed.

A great military parade.

One of the many war memorials.

A view over Budapest

The river Danube cuts Budapest in two parts, Buda and Pest.

People on their way back after a long walk.

A genuine market street with lots of shops and a church at the end.

The guard in place at the restaurant Sir Lancelot

Now a starter, Hungarian Gullash in a huge bread hollowed for the purpose.

Main course: Many sorts of fish and meat, with bread.

It was not easy to finish the dishes, there was a lot of food.

The King and the Queen were also out to dine. (Wax figure)

Some entertainment with a dance.

Oh yes, It would be nice to be able to do so.

The service was perfect, and good looking.

Time to find the knight of today.

Monday at the Balaton lake
On Monday we vent to the Balaton lake where we stayed at a hotel on the bank of the lake.

Some rehearsing to walk backwards before entering the monastry.

Everybody listening to the guide, telling about the monastry.

Now, a long tour down from the monastry.

Still it goes down

Now, there is dinner and entertainment on a tour boat

The entertainment was performed by Hungarian gipsies.

A very fine place for lunch near the Balaton lake.

Very nice inside.

And nice outside in the sun.

A view on the milk-white Balaton lake.

After a good lunch, some exercise is good.

A visit into one of the many nice castles, to be found in Hungary.

If you want to enjoy the taste of wine, you need to walk up to the wine castle.

A short rest on the way up. It was 30 degrees of Celcius.

Now look at some clothes.

Is'nt it a nice street.

What a view from the hotel.

A nice litle inn.

A huge market area.

A nice place to enjoy lunch.

A good picture of Svend Åge

Brian wanted salad for lunch, and that was what he got.

Tuesday at Grundfos in Tatabanya
On Tuesday we went to Tatabanya to the Grundfos company and had a fine welcome. They were both proud and glad to receive our visit. At the beginning we had a presentation of Grundfos City and saw the new 3D film, based on a new technology in that area, and it will be used at the world fair in Zaragoza. It is a very special experience to see the film, and you should try it if you get the possibility. We were on a guided tour on both plants one and two, exiting, but most of the equipment came from Bjerringbro. At the end of the factory visit we had lunch in the canteen together with our host.

Grundfos Petanque at GMH

It was Gert's birthday, congratulations.

Tuesday afternoon a Petanque tournament
After lunch it was tournament time in Tatabanya. We have located a club in the middle of the town with a fine petanque ground and room in the park area of the city. We were welcomed and our spirits were high. During the warming up, we could see that the Hungarian players have tried it before. In the beginning, we did not get many points, they were good, and they knew the petanque ground. It went better during the tournament and we became familiar with the ground. At the end of the day the difference was not so high, but they were better than we were.

Entering the local Petanque club.

A lot af happy petanque players making ready for the game for today, in 32 degrees Celsius.

To stay in the shadow for so long as possible is best, it is very hot in the sun.

Exchange of private gifts.

Then the tournament has started.

Yes, what to do now my friend?

Tactics are best made in the shadow.

Keep away from the sun if you can.

A rest, and its time to get some water.

A lot of water was drunk that day.

A hot day at the petanque ground.

It was necessary to go into the shadow between the matches.

It is easy to see that it was hard, people look weary during the day.

A little more rest.

What a blue sky.

The boss from the local club was also thirsty.

Without food and water, there are no heroes.

A little more Petanque

Some more.

Now it is time to say goodbye. It had been a very good day togethe with some very nice and merry people. But they won the game, never mind, they were better than we were, or maybe it was the hot weather.

Wednesday homebound

It is good to come out and see other factories in other countries and meet the people and their culture. It is also good to meet other petanque players and find out that we can learn from them. On a trip like this we made friendships at the factories, and will see them again next year at our olympic games. We are looking forward to that

Petanque board.
